CMG Daily - Everything You Need to Know

Updated: Dec 18, 2021

We recently launched CMG Daily - a newsletter that gets sent out every morning (Monday-Friday). We truly believe it will be the best newsletter out there. You know, in our completely unbiased opinion.

The newsletter is jam packed with information. We are pulling data from all over the internet and compiling it in one single email so you have everything you need to know about the markets at your fingertips. Our goal is to make your lives easier.

And the best part - it's absolutely FREE.

If you haven't already, you can sign up here.

The free version has a market recap, top 5 news articles for the markets that day and a summary of what is happening in the pre-market.

We also have a paid version that you can access through our Patreon.

The paid version has the same info from the free newsletter as well as the stocks we are watching that day, analyst price target changes and recommendations, earnings reports data, economic data, ex-dividends being paid out that day and our thought of the day.

If you are unfamiliar with us, we are very honest and transparent. So in all honesty, the free version will be more than enough information for most people on a daily basis. The paid version is for someone who pays close attention to the markets every day, maybe a trader or an active investor.

With that being said, choose what works best for you personally and we are glad we can help.

For more information, here's a full breakdown of what each newsletter will have.

Market Recap

At the market close of each day, we pull the latest market data from TradingView. For stock market data, that is 4pm EST. For crypto, it is midnight EST.

Here is a sample of what this section will look like:

The S&P 500, Dow, Nasdaq and Bitcoin will be regulars on this list. The last two slots will be used for Gold, Oil, Treasuries, Gold or on certain days, a hot stock.

The S&P 500 is an index that tracks the 500 largest companies in the United States. Companies need to be headquartered in the U.S., have a market cap of $8.2 billion or more and have positive earnings for at least four consecutive quarters.

The index is market cap weighted, meaning that larger companies have a bigger influence on the index. Here is a weighting breakdown as of December 2021.

The Dow Jones is an index that tracks 30 blue-chip U.S. stocks. Blue chip stocks are well established, influential companies. The 30 stocks in the index range in sector and are the index is believed to be a leading indicator of the stock market and economy.

Unlike the S&P 500, the Dow Jones is a price weighted index. This means a stock with a higher share price has more influence on the index.

The Nasdaq is an index that tracks 2,500 companies, but tech has a heavy influence on the index as it makes up over 50% of the index. Similar to the S&P 500, the index is market cap weighted.

Bitcoin is the largest and most well-known cryptocurrency. It is also a very volatile so it is considered a speculative asset. For a simple, complete explanation of Bitcoin - we have you covered.

Treasury Bonds are important to monitor. A bond is a debt instrument the U.S. government issues to fund itself. The 10 year is arguably the most important as it is considered a safe haven asset. If the demand goes up, yield goes down. If the demand is weak, yield goes up.

Gold is another save haven asset. Investors turn to gold in times of uncertainty as the metal tends to hold its value. Gold is priced in U.S. dollars and the price per ounce of gold is the typical reference.

Oil prices are affected by supply and demand. The price you will see on the recap will be for WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil, which is considered one of the highest quality oils. Oil prices affect everything as it is an input cost which is passed on to the consumer (ie manufacturing costs, shipping costs, etc.)
